What
is body feminization?
Body feminization is a combination of surgeries–performed separately or together–that help people transitioning from male-to-female achieve body contours and proportions that better align with the female body. Every body feminization treatment plan is customized for each individual transgender person. The goal is to help alleviate gender dysphoria which is generally defined as an incongruence between the inner and outer self based around gender and the person’s gender assigned at birth. Dr. Sajan will help sculpt a narrower waist, shapelier buttocks and hips, and an overall more feminine body appearance.
In nearly all body feminization procedures that Dr. Sajan performs he uses liposuction and fat transfer. Commonly, fat is taken from areas such as the waist, thighs,and abdomen; then, transferred into areas such as the buttocks, hips, or breasts. To minimize trauma and reduce recovery time, he uses power-assisted liposuction and J plasma techniques to achieve the following:
- Remove fat from places where males traditionally carry fat
- Transfer fat to the hips and buttocks to create a curving, attractive contour.
Sculpt a slimmer, more narrow waist. - Create a slim hourglass figure.

Procedure
In general, your body feminization procedure will begin with general anesthesia. To achieve the slim, hourglass figure that is widely regarded as the classic sign of feminine beauty, Dr. Sajan will design the ideal waist-to-hip ratio, which is determined by dividing your waist measurement by your hip measurement.
Dr. Sajan will perform gentle liposuction in the waist area. He will begin with a micro-incision, insert a fine tube called a cannula, and use high-definition liposuction to remove fat from your midsection in order to sculpt the slim, small waistline you want. He will then purify and cleanse this fat so that it can be transferred into the buttocks and hips.
Dr. Sajan will inject your body fat at strategic points throughout the buttocks and hips, creating a more curving, rounded, feminine contour. Breast augmentation with fat transfer can be a part of this procedure, if your breasts haven’t already been created with implants.
Recovery after body feminization
During your initial recovery period, you will wear a compression garment to reduce swelling and support the relocated fat tissue. Expect that there will be bruising and swelling in the donor and recipient sites. You will likely want to spend the first few days of the recovery period resting, but do be sure to begin walking around the house as soon as possible to promote healing.
Patients usually return to work after about one week. Do not engage in strenuous exercise or heavy lifting for several weeks until the healing process is complete.
Results
